Editing Photos
Using Photoshop, I played around with some of my images to see what effects I could get. I'm not sure what I'm looking for at the moment. What I'm hoping to get from these is a feel of my photos and see where I can take them from there.
I tried adjusting areas of the photographs with curves, so that some of the woods were still visible in it’s original state. I tried combining a couple of the images so you got a double layer effect.
I tried taking pictures with the flash on which I didn’t like as it looks fake. I didn’t use a tripod to take any of my photos, but I think it something I should do for my final pictures. I wanted to use the long exposure but without a tripod I couldn’t hold the camera still another. Getting out and taking pictures of the woods, has given me a better idea of what I need to do to create my final photographs.
For these pictures I played with "Curves" changing the (RGB).
I like that you can't really tell what you're looking at at first, this is helped by the fact that you're looking at a mirror. I used this as I wanted to look at the woods in a different way. I live 2 mins from the woods so I think I'm quite used to them. Living where I do and being home educated meant that I spent most of my time outdoors, I know the woods as well as I know my garden, and I know my garden pretty well.
I cropped some of the photos so they were centred in the frame.
I found a selection of children's equipment in the woods. The soft furnishing having decayed a long time ago leaving the metal framework derelict and rusting. Looking at the items I get an idea of what the they might have been like when they were in use, and who might have used them.
Looking at someone's belongings, you can get a sense of the type of person who used them, as well as feeling a familiarity to what you see.
