Audrey Hepburn by Angus McBean, 1950.
This photo is blurred so you can't really see much of the details, the photo is of Audrey Hepburn for the film "Roman Holiday" the picture shows her with her head and shoulders coming up out of the sand and posed amidst classical pillars. The photo to me feels dream like, the idea of having someone buried up to their shoulders but still looking calm and relaxed seems odd but works.
Rene Ray, Countess of Middleton by Angus McBean, 1938.
I like this picture it's got a element of comedy about it, I don't know if she has her head through a hole making it look like her head or if its two images and he's stuck her face on a stone face. The way that he has the shadows on her face enhances her smile. With use of lighting and the white plaster behind her it makes her appear as if she's glowing. The colour of the image adds to the over all look of the photo giving it an old and dated feel.
