Hayley Rebecca Muir : Paper Portfolio
Hayley Rebecca Muir : Paper Portfolio
Patina
When revisiting the Heriot-Watt showcase I came across a paper portfolio by one of the fashion students, called Patina. She had put her portfolio out with her collection of work. I think having your portfolio as part of your showcase is a great idea, so it was odd that she was one of the only people with it on display.
The purpose of her portfolio is to gain public interest. The type of people that attend the showcase are friends and family of the students as well as people interested in textiles and professionals in the industry who offer employment.
Her paper portfolio looks more professional compared to the others I've looked at. As she is a graduate, her portfolio is well developed and was thought out to show the development of her collection idea. The portfolio has a theme of depth using map contours and padded materials.
The advantage of this paper based portfolio is that it can be felt as well as seen, touching the fabric samples made me connect more with her idea of depth. The dis advantage is that it is the only copy, whereas a digital copy can be viewed by numerous people in many locations at once.
The colour pallette is all related to autumn golds and bronzes with natural stone like red sandstone. She uses varied techniques such as photography, typography, drawing and collage. The pieces are all connected along the similar theme to develop her idea.
